    This doesn't work great for people whose pain arises after activities, not during, and for people whose pain isn't closely related to load. I'm both, unfortunately. Still better messaging than you're going to get from the majority of MDs.

    I eat mostly whole foods, and my sodium levels are always low. If I dont have salt water (1 tbsp of salt) in the AM, within 48 hours I suffer from crushing headaches. Until I learned that I just need salt, I had a terrible time eating whole foods. In fact, I used to get INSANE cravings for junk food, and it took a long time to realize I was likely craving the salt. I also learned that the body will take MG and turn it into salt if you are low on salt. So another issue that used to happen, is that I needed super high MG to just not get muscle spasms constantly. All of that went away just taking salt everyday. I think MOST people dont have to worry about salt, but I know many people who are like me, that just need salt everyday

    How do you find a physician that can help figure out the cause of multiple areas of pain, like you say around the 17:00 mark? I've got knee, Achilles, shoulder, bicep, wrist, and finger pain. Had some rheum tests, thyroid tests, metabolic, CBC, etc - all normal. What do you do from there?

    Is it always bad tho? Like I generally tried to give advise to someone to be nice and after reading comments I can see it probably wasn’t smart of me. But I didn’t do it with any ill intent or thinking I was better then them or anything like that? I personally welcome any advise but I understand we are all different, I just feel bad for giving advise to someone but I didn’t mean it in a bad way at all

    I'm one of the many people who came into the urgent care with similar (but much lesser) symptoms a few weeks after I dragged some 450 lb windows up a steep gravel pathway. They wanted to test me for this same injury to be safe and it ended up costing several thousand bucks at the time. Nothing showed up so I probably just had lots of inflammation of the ribcage cartilledge (caustochondritis ? ). It's really interesting to hear about the real deal injury to understand what that doctor was freaked out about.

I get my regular blood draw this week and the following week I may start that cycle if my bloodwork is good. It’s been good for over a year now so I’m thinking it will be a go for me.

    Forgive my ignorance, but can someone explain what he means by saturated fat less then 10% of daily calories? Meaning if I eat 2000 calories and 10% of that number is 200 grams of saturated fat, that seems an extremely high daily number. Is that what it means?

    • @Gerrick-lp9gm
      @Gerrick-lp9gm 14 дней назад

      It would not be 200 grams of fat but 200 calories of saturdated fat. There are 9 calories per 1 gram of fat. So you would found out how many calories of that fat is 10 percent of your total calories ans then use that metric to found out how many grams that equals.

    • @mrmrlee
      @mrmrlee 14 дней назад

    *Tips and information for recovering from Hernia Surgery if you live alone.* These are things you should do before you leave the house to go for surgery. This includes but is not limited to: Cook and prepare a week’s worth of meals and snacks before surgery. Meals that will be easy to pass through your digestive system. Things like vegetable soup with beans, carrots, celery…, oatmeal with prunes, egg salad, chicken salad, steamed carrots, broccoli, asparagus… low fat and low grease type foods. Snacks like apples, oranges, *ripe* bananas, all kinds of fruits and berries are good to keep things moving. Start taking a stool softener one or two days before surgery and then continue taking it when you get back home. Wear loose fitting clothes to the hospital and continue to do so when you get back home. Example: I took a shower that morning with an antibacterial soap, I wore clean socks, slippers, sweatpants with no underpants, a T-Shirt, and no jewelry of any kind. In a ziplock bag place your keys, ID card, a credit card, medical insurance cards, and give it to your driver to hold. Do not take your phone to surgery. Leave your phone at home, on your nightstand, and fully charged. Place something next to your toilet you can grab onto to help you get on and off the toilet. Do the same for your bed and other areas you may sit. Have toothpaste, toothbrush, and floss out and ready to use. A glass to use for water to rinse out your mouth. You’re not going to be able to bend over to _cup water_ into your hands. If you don’t already have a _grabber,_ get one. Place a thermometer on your nightstand and make sure it is in working order. Have on hand at least two ice packs that you can wrap a clean cloth around to put over the location of surgery and rotate them from the freezer as needed. This will keep the swelling down. Read your after surgery instructions and follow them. Listen to your doctor and follow his/her orders. Keep the wound area clean and GENTALY clean it with an antibacterial soap every morning and again before you go to bed at night. Have clean sheets on your bed. The next day get up and walk but be careful. I walked outside twice around the cul-de-sac four times a day starting the day right after surgery. Twice in the morning, once in the afternoon, and then again in the evening. Have plenty of water and Gatorade on hand, and before you leave for surgery place a few bottles on your nightstand, computer desk, kitchen table, kitchen counters, your television chair, and in your refrigerator. Drink plenty of liquids. At least four bottles per day. Take pain medication as needed but don’t overdo it. All pain medications can cause constipation and trust me, you don’t want that. A list of movies you may want to watch. I am not going to sugarcoat this for you. It’s going to be hard. The first three days are not going to be pretty, they are hard and tough, so be ready. It gets easier on your fourth day. Good luck and I hope this helps.

    You might think its nice that if you sweat more you get to indulge in more sodium, its really not. I sweat so much no matter what I do no matter how much I jog or retain from drinking water nothing works. I had to take a tsp of pink himalayan sea salt and put it in my water to sip throughout my workout to keep myself energized. Otherwise my energy just drops. Fun fact if I go and eat a very high sodium meal like from chick fil a, my energy levels shoot up like I had an energy drink.

    @73 I haven't reached my max yet. I have had 2 knee replacements about 10 years ago, about the same time I started lifting. I bench 210, squat 280, dead lift 320. It's more than I have ever lifted in my life. I'm even doing pull-ups now and I couldn't in like forever. I think the "aging" thing is more a mental thing than anything. If you think you're too old then you probably are. The weights are no great shakes but, for me that is an accomplishment. My weights are still increasing...

Had a complete cardio workup including stress test, zero deposits and plaques, have the circulatory system of someone decades younger according to my cardiologist. my BP is 120/70, resting pulse 54, cholesterol 185....Diet is vegetarian with an occasional Salmon or Tuna. Also, I'm 57. My wife, bless her, is over 100 lbs. less than me and regularly out eats me at meals. Oh and BTW my grandma just passed at age 101, she was short and chunky and was in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's oldest female competitive powerlifter! True story! So, docs are on my case about weight loss, not sure what my next course of action should be.

    If I was to give one bit of criticism, it would be that sometimes zebras really are zebras and it takes a bit to figure that out. I don't think that this criticism is really one that falls entirely on your shoulders, as much as it does the way we currently treat medicine (which has its pro's, but also tends to be very late on the ball for rare but serious diagnoses). In my example, I started with balance issues and non-specific backpain. I worked with both a doctor and a physical therapist and we took a very conservative "it will probably work itself out" attitude. It turned out i had osteonecrosis in both of my hips as well as in small pockets in my spine. Waiting and treating it in this BPS way likely made a significant difference in my case as it was too late for the "early surgical interventions" and ultimately I ended up in a wheelchair before needing both hips replaced and a surgery on my lower spine. BPS and "acute injuries will resolve themselves" is a great rule of thumb, but sometimes a zebra really is a zebra and not a horse.
